While many women desire the education and counseling they appreciate Nurse Midwives provide, they aren't always aware of the additional health screening we can offer.
Penny Lane MSn, CNM, IBCLC can perform or arrange for basic screening tests for the following concerns:
- family planning, including IUD placement
- thyroid evaluations
- anemia
- diabetes
- depression or emotional problems
- breast cancer, including mammograms
- sexually transmitted disease testing
- cholesterol or other lipid levels
- vitamin D levels
- osteoporosis
- menopausal and perimenopausal hormone levels
- genetic screening/counseling
- screening for immunity to common childhood diseases
- endometrial biopsy
- lead levels or screening for toxic metals
- colon cancer
- pelvic floor evaluation and referral to specialists as indicated
