Breastfeeding for Birth Professionals

This course is designed for those who offer breastfeeding support and education within their professional role. Physicians, midwives, nurses, midwife assistants and doulas would all gain valuable skills and the confidence necessary for optimizing breastfeeding success. 

This course does qualify for the breastfeeding education component required for DONA doula certification.

September 17th, 2011 at 2pm - 8pm

Request the registration form via e-mail. Faxed the completed form to our office (765) 436-7114, with $60 registration fee sent via paypal, or mail it with a personal or business check made out to Believe Midwifery Services, LLC.

This course will discuss:

  • your role in protecting, promoting and supporting breastfeeding
  • preparing the childbearing couple for breastfeeding
  • birth interventions and their effect on breastfeeding
  • the golden hour
  • assessing for optimal breastfeeding
  • intervening appropriately for optimizing success
  • introduction to lactation tools
  • use of oils, herbs and alternative therapies
  • support through weaning

Sweet Olivia struggled a great deal with breastfeeding initially. Mommy persevered and she continues to nurse exclusively and happily at mommy's breast.
